Massive Post-Chinese New Year, Pre-Najib traffic congestion in and around Pasar Besar Ipoh (UTC Perak)!

The team of Ipoh Happenings had a nasty shock early this morning, caught totally off guard in a massive traffic congestion in and around Pasar Besar Ipoh. It was probably one of the worst traffic congestions we had ever experienced in the City of Ipoh! We saw cars in bumper-to-bumper traffic anywhere within a 1 km radius of Pasar Besar Ipoh!

Upon closer inspection, we concluded that the massive traffic congestion in and around Pasar Besar Ipoh is caused by the ongoing preparations (more about this in our next post) being made by the local authorities to hold the official launching of UTC Perak by PM Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Hj Abd Razak on this coming Friday, February 15th 2013.

Local authorities in Ipoh have practically closed three of the busiest streets (Jalan Laxamana, Jalan Foo Choo Choon and Tingkat Pasar) in the city and those caught off guard, completely unaware of the closures paid the ultimate price.

Our advice to fellow Ipohites

Plan your trip before driving to the heart of the city and monitor traffic reports provided by service providers such as Google before making your trip. Ipoh is no longer a city where you can drive carefree on the roads!
