White, hazy (jerebu) Sunday for Ipoh
Ipohites woke up expecting to see a bright sunny Sunday today, only to find a thick haze enveloping the city's skyline.
It looks pretty bad from a distance but a quick check at the Department of Environment's Air Pollutant Index, the team of Ipoh Happenings discovered that the haze is not as bad as it looks. The area around Jalan Tasek recorded 'Good' API readings; 47 at 7 AM and 50 at 11 AM. However, those living around Jalan Pegoh are not so fortunate. The area there recorded 'Moderate' API readings today; 57 at 7 AM and 56 at 11 AM.
The reason why Ipoh is hot and humid in the past few days
A quick check at the website of Singapore's National Environment Agency revealed a number of hotspots in Myanmar, Thailand and Cambodia. Surface winds coming from the north could have carried hot, warm air/haze to the northernmost states in Peninsular Malaysia. Thus explaining why Ipoh had a strange hot and humid weather in the past few days.
Our advice to fellow Ipohites
Drink plenty of water and try to avoid working or exercising outdoors this weekend. Work out indoors if possible and public indoor gymnasiums (best public indoor gym in Ipoh!) such as the one located at UTC Perak offers first class comfort and convenience.
