The Aftermath of Fiesta Pelancongan Perak Darul Ridzuan 2012

2012 had come and gone. Visitors of Ambang 2013 at Fiesta Pelancongan Perak Darul Ridzuan 2012 had ushered in 2013 with a bang and what's left are just fond memories of 2012.

Really, is that so?

Well, the team of Ipoh Happenings happened to drive along Jalan Kompleks Sukan yesterday morning when we saw something that shocked us all. We immediately turned our car around and made a quick stop at the venue site of Fiesta Pelancongan Perak Darul Ridzuan 2012 and took a few photos with our lenses.

What we saw at the venue site of Fiesta Pelancongan Perak Darul Ridzuan 2012 on January 1st 2013

We were told that Fiesta Pelancongan Perak Darul Ridzuan 2012 ended around 12:30 AM. The following photos on the other hand were taken yesterday around 10:30 AM, about 10 hours after the end of Fiesta Pelancongan Perak Darul Ridzuan 2012. 10 hours! Please bear that in mind.

Our suggestions for the local Ipoh authorities and future Ipoh event organizers

Kompleks Sukan Bandaraya Ipoh has many famous landmarks for the City of Ipoh. Most tourists and outsiders visiting Ipoh knew Stadium Perak very well. Most even knew Stadium Indera Mulia pretty well too since many events were held there in the past. Perak Homex and Perak IT/PC Fair, just to name a few. Not to mention Kompleks Belia dan Sukan Negeri Perak where many youths all over the country had visited the place at least once in their lifetime.

What would tourists and outsiders say when they saw rubbish strewn all over the place? What would tourists and outsiders think of the City of Ipoh and its citizens when they saw those rubbishes?

There is no point in pointing fingers at anybody. What we can do today however is to learn something from this unfortunate scene.

We sincerely hope the local Ipoh authorities such as Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh will coordinate and work closely with event organizers in the future. Quickly send clean-up teams out in the field to do clean-ups (rubbish collection etc.) right after the end of each and every event. Please do not wait for the next working day to do it. Event organizers on the other hand must periodically remind visitors over the PA system to maintain cleanliness at all times and make sure that rubbish bins are strategically located and sufficient at all times too.

The City of Ipoh is often regarded as one of the cleanest cities in the country. So please, let's keep it that way! :)
